Abstract (EN)
In the present study, the relationships between attachment styles and quality of life of secondary school adolescents were investigated. For this purpose, the relationship between attachment styles and quality of life was examined and whether these two variables differed between groups formed on the basis of socio-demografic characteristics (gender, age, family income level, introversion-extraversion, mother's education level, father's education level, perception of academic achievement) was also explored. In addition, whether attachment style predicted quality of life in secondary school students was investigated. Participants of the study consists of a total of 305 students, studying at secondary schools in the Bahçelievler district of Istanbul at the 7th and 8th grade levels. While 182 of them were girls, 123 of the participants were boys. "Personal Information Form" was used to determine the personal information of the participants, "Three-Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale" was used to reveal attachment styles, and "Quality of Life Scale for Children" was used to determine their quality of life. Relational survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. In the multiple comparison analyzes employed in the study, the t test was used for group analysis with two data sets, and the F test was used for the comparison between three or more data sets. In order to test the significance of the differences, Tukey analysis was performed. Finally, Pearson correlation analysis was used to find out the relationships between the variables of the study. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between secure attachment and physical, social, emotional and school life quality in adolescents, and a negative significant relationship between avoidant attachment and physical, emotional, social and school life quality. While there were differences in the sub-dimensions of attachment style and quality of life with regard to the gender variable, only the school life quality scores differed based on the family income level variable. The findings were discussed in the light of relevant literature, and suggestions were made for future research.
