The relationship between digital addiction and peer bullying and parental attitudes in secondary school students

In this study, the relationship between digital addiction and peer bullying and parental attitudes in secondary school students was investigated. In addition, students' digital addiction was analysed according to demographic variables. The sample of the study was determined as a total of 518 students, 241 girls and 277 boys, studying in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades, determined by convenient sampling method in Hasköy district of Muş province. The research is in the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research models. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, Independent Groups t-Test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyse the data. According to the freedom of the research, it was concluded that there is a positive and moderately significant relationship between digital relationships and peer bullying. In addition, there is a negative and low-level significant relationship between digital relationships and parental attitudes sub-dimensions such as acceptance, care and psychological autonomy, and if they are sub-determined, there is a positive and moderately significant relationship between them. It was concluded that the independent variables together explain 42% of the total variance of digital addiction. According to the freedom of the research, the level of digital interaction differs between the groups according to age, mother's education level and father's education level. It does not differ significantly according to gender and class level.
