Investigation of the relationship between self-efficiency and anxiety of problem solving skills in secondary school students

The aim of this study is to examine the problem-solving skills, self-sufficiency, and anxiety levels of secondary school students in terms of different variables. The sample of the study consists of 235 secondary school students who study in the 5th,6th ,7th and 8th classes of a central secondary school in a city located in the Eastern Anatolia Region during the 2020-2021 academic year. The study adapted descriptive model, one of the quantitative research methods. The data collection instruments applied in the study are Problem Solving Skills Perception Scale developed by Ekinci and Balım (2013), Self-Sufficiency Scale for Children developed by Telef and Karaca (2012), and Social Anxiety Scale for Children- Revised Version developed by Demir et al., (2000). The data analysis techniques employed in the study are; Independent Samples t-Test and One-Way ANOVA Test. The study findings revealed that there was a statistically proven significant difference in terms of variables such as gender and class level. However, there was no significant difference in terms of mothers' and fathers' educational background. Further, the social anxiety scores were not impacted by variables such as gender, class and mothers' and fathers' educational background.
