Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to study secondary school students' motivation levels of playing digital games and their game addiction levels. The study has been patterned according to decriptive and correlationce survey model, which are methods of quantitive research, and a convenience sampling model has been used. 828 secondary school students studying in 5 th, 6 th and 7 th grades in Kocaeli Province constitutes the sample research of this study. "Motivation Scale of Playing Digital Games", "Scale of Computer Games Addiction for Children" and "Scale of Personal Information Form" have been used in this study. Descriptive statistics, T test for independent samples which is a parametric test, one-way analysis of the variance (ANOVA) and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Analysis have been used in analysis of data. As a result of the study, it has been concluded that secondary school students' motivation of playing digital games and their addiction levels are on intermediate level and besides they are interrelated on medium level in a positive way. The male students' motivation of playing digital games and their level of game addiction have been noted as higher in comparison with the female students. Motivation of playing digital games have been concluded as higher for the students who have mobile phones, in the use of PC, and for those who choose in the game type and Riot Games on the playing platform, play Valorant games and play for 4-6 hours in a day. It has been concluded that game addiction is high on the 6 th grade level in use of PC and digital game platform and for the students who play for more then 6 hours in a day.
