Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation levels of secondary school students towards Religious Culture and Ethics course. Descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of 527 6th, 7th and 8th grade students studying in 4 different schools in Malatya in the 2023-2024 academic year. The data were obtained by using "Motivation Scale" and "Personal Information Form". Through these data collection tools, it was aimed to reveal the motivation levels of the students towards the Religious Culture and Ethics course and to examine it according to gender, school, grade level, previous religious education and family income status. The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS program. According to the results of the study, it was determined that intrinsic motivation showed a significant difference according to gender, grade level, previous religious education, family income status and school. Extrinsic motivation showed a significant difference according to grade level, previous religious education, family income status and school, while no significant difference was found according to gender. While the dimension of caring showed a significant difference according to gender, family income status and school, no significant difference was found according to grade level and previous religious education.
