Abstract (EN)

This study was done to examine the Relationship Between Secondary School Students' Attitudes Towards Geometry and Perceived School Experiences. In addition, it was investigated whether the Attitudes of Secondary School Students towards Geometry and their Perceived School Experiences differed in terms of various demographic variables. As a quantitative research method, relational model was used for the research. The population of the research consists of students studying in public secondary schools in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. The sample of the research comprised 607 secondary school students (5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade) consisting of 317 girls, 290 boys who are selected by using a proper sampling method. In this research, "Personal Information Form", "Attitude Scale Towards Geometry", "Perceived School Experiences Scale" were used as data collection tools. The statistical methods used in this research were descriptive statistics, the independent group one-way ANOVA, the independent group t-test and also the pearson correlation analysis test for determining the relationship among variables. As a result of the findings, it was determined that there was a significantly moderate positive relationship between secondary schoolers' perceived school experiences and students' attitudes towards geometry. It has been observed that students' attitudes towards geometry are at a "moderate" level. Besides, it was found that the students' scores of attitude towards geometry scale did not differ according to their gender and their school types; differed according to their mathematics achievement score, grade level, age and education level of their parents. It has been observed that students' perceived school experiences are at a "high" level. Besides, it was found that the students' scores of perceived school experiences scale did not differ according to their school types, grade level, mathematics achievement score, age and education level of their parents; differed according to their gender. Keywords: Geometry, Attitude, Attitude Towards Geometry, Perceived School Experiences
