Students' thoughts and beliefs are important factors in learning a foreign language. Self-efficacy and metacognitive abilities are crucial in the learning process because they affect students' learning. As a result of this thesis, an association was formed between the lower secondary school students' self-efficacy and metacognitive abilities. During the 2023–2024 academic year, the research population comprised 1081 lower secondary school students from 5th grade to 8th grade. Information was obtained through scales on the interrelationship between self-efficacy and metacognitive abilities in lower secondary school students. Entering the survey co was carried out using SPSS software, and the data was analyzed with it. The study's findings demonstrated that the lower secondary school students' levels of self-efficacy in English classes were higher than average. Additionally, there were differences in the self-efficacy levels of lower secondary school students about English classes based on gender and grade. The degree of self-efficacy that the female lower secondary school students had toward English classes was greater than that of the male lower secondary school students. Students in the fifth grade also had the highest degree of self-efficacy about English classes. There was not a meaningful difference between genders of grades in the ESEQ and ESEB Scale. Furthermore, in English classes, the lower secondary school students had above-average metacognitive ability. Once more, gender variables affected the metacognitive abilities of the students in the English classes. The level of metacognitive awareness that the female lower secondary school students had for English classes was higher than that of the male lower secondary school students. On the other hand, the grade variable showed no discernible variation. There was not a meaningful difference between genders of grades in the Metacognitive Awareness Scale. This academic study also showed that the lower secondary school students' metacognitive skills in English classes and their sense of self-efficacy were significantly correlated. The current research will inform the lower secondary school education programs for the future since it could be important to prepare a curriculum of language education for the lower secondary school students by considering their thoughts and beliefs. Studies on this subject are likely to be restricted, and the findings may be validated only for one city.
