Looks on the relationship between secondary students' internet addiction levels and talking concerns

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between internet addiction and speaking anxiety of secondary school students. The study carried out in this context was conducted with 1037 secondary school 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students attending 9 secondary schools where located in neighborhoods with relatively different socio-economic structures in the central districts of Gaziantep province in the 2020-2021 academic year. Relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. Personal Information Form was developed by the researcher within the scope of the research, the Speech Anxiety Scale (SAS) was developed by Keşaplı and Çiftçi (2017), and The Internet Addiction Scale (IAS), developed by Young (1996) and adapted into Turkish by Bayraktar (2001), was used. As a result of the research, both the Speech Anxiety Scale and the Internet Addiction Scale were used to determine the gender, age, etc. of the students. Statistically significant differences, relationships and independent variables among many independent variables were found to predict these scales. In addition, it was determined that there was a weak statistical significance between the Speech Anxiety Scale and the Internet Addiction Scale, and some of the Speech Anxiety Scale's sub-dimensions predicted the Internet Addiction Scale.
