Examination of secondary school students' levels of attendance, life satisfaction and future expectation

The aim of the study is to examine the levels of school engagement, life satisfaction and future expectation of secondary school students. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to 1165 students selected by stratified purposive sampling method, studying at different secondary school types in Kars city center and surrounding villages. The data used in the research was collected with using the forms: The Personal Information Form, the Adolescent Future Expectations Scale, School Attachment Scale and the Life Satisfaction Scale for Children. Statistics package program was used in the analysis of the data. Since the data showed normal distribution, T-Test and one-way analysis of variance were performed. According to the results of this study, no significant difference was found between the levels of future expectation, school engagement and life satisfaction according to school type. On the other hand, it was revealed that the normal secondary school students in the center had a lower level of school engagement and higher life satisfaction than the students in boarding regional secondary schools. The level of school engagement was higher in males. However, the mother's education level does not make a significant difference, but as the father's education level increases, it is seen that the future expectation and life satisfaction level also increase.
