Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to examine the cases of 8th grade students and determine whether there is a significant discrepancy in understanding across different variables. Additionally, further analysis was done on the ways Turkish teachers and 8th grade students convey the subject. The study group consisted of 120 8th grade students in four secondary schools, one private school, and three public schools in the Antalya province during the 2016-2017 academic year. The data was collected using a 30-sentence study sheet developed by researchers. In addition, a "Structured Interview Form" was developed for Turkish teachers to study the way the subjects were prepared for instruction. In this study, the scanning model and content analysis research model, which are descriptive research types, were used. In this context, both quantitative and qualitative investigations were conducted. The Chi-Square, Mann Whitney U Test, and Kruskal Wallis Test were used to analyze the data. Results were interpreted using a significance level of 0.05 and analyzed with content analysis technique. As a result, the correct answer rate was %58,78 and the incorrect answer rate was %32,47. More than 50% of the students were successful. It was determined that the cases of subject acquisition differ significantly in terms of different variables.
