Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the use of augmented reality technology in the "Sound and Its Features" unit on 6th grade students' academic achievements, permanence of learned information, misconceptions, self-efficacy perceptions for science learning, technological awareness levels and students' social skills. The quantitative dimension of the research, which was designed according to the sequential explanatory design, which is one of the mixed methods research designs, was carried out in a quasi-experimental design. The study group of the research consisted of 160 sixth grade students studying in two public schools located in the central district of a medium-sized city in the Marmara region. Quantitative data were collected by "Academic Achievement Test", "Conceptual Comprehension Test", "Self-Efficacy Scale for Learning Science", "Social Skills Scale" and "Technological Awareness Scale", and qualitative data were collected by the interview form prepared by the researchers. Repeated measures ANOVA, dependent and independent groups t-test, descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of quantitative data, while content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. It has been observed that augmented reality applications are more effective than the current teaching method prescribed by the Ministry of Education in terms of improving students' academic achievements, conceptual understanding levels, self-efficacy and technological awareness levels for science learning and ensuring permanence in academic success in the 6th grade science course.
