Examinaton of course books in terms of belief concepts of secondary school (5, 6 aand 7. grades) social sciences

In this research, the situation of including belief consepts that regulate individual life, in the 5, 6 and 7th grades social studies course books was analyzed. The concept list was created by scanning the course books and after these concepts were categorized, at what grade level and in the learning area how often the consept categories were repeated. Document analysis was chosen from qualitative research methods in line with the purpose of the research. The concepts divided into categories were analyzed using content analysis method, and frequency tables were presented. In the research, in which 127 concepts about belief were examined, 6 consept categories were created and it was concluded that the most concept was used in the 6th grade, while the least consept was used in the 5th grade. The most frequently repeated concept category are types of belief and related concepts. The learning area where the concept of belief is mostly used is determined as the learning area of culture and heritage. The learning area in which the concept of least belief is used is determined as the learning area of production, distribution and consumption. The most frequently used concept of belief in secondary school social studies textbook was found to be the concept of Islam with 164 repetition.
