Abstract (EN)

In todays society, scientific and technological advances have been increasing but humanitarian values are gradually decreasing. Growing individuals who not only consider rationalism, but also don't lose values like love, respect, tolerance, diligence and honesty is both individually and socially important. In order to have individual social advances, cultural global values should be given more importance.Essential part of education progress, textbooks, have an important role in value transmission. National and global values are gained by literary works, which have been generated thanks to textbooks and Turkish vocabulary wealth. It is thought that the school, the curriculum, the implicit program and the reflection of the program, textbooks, which have an important function in value transmission, should be reviewed in terms of value transmission. As a result of this, the importance of reviewing Turkish textbooks in terms of individual and social advance should be determined. In this study, Turkish textbooks of the subsidiary secondary schools of the Ministry of Education were reviewed in terms of value transmission. The textbooks of the Ministry of Education were chosen because they are used in many schools throughout the country, and they are the materials of the Turkish education, as well as important source for value transmission. In the study, the texts in the textbooks of the Ministry of Education were reviewed according to the classification of values by Schwartz. Document analysis and description analysis methods were applied while reviewing the texts. The study is consisted of five chapters. These chapters are introduction, relevant publications and researches, method, remarks and conclusion.
