Investigation of causutive factors of peer bullying on middle school students

This research was conductedby using general survey modelwith quantitative data. The population of survey was composed of students who are in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. In the centre of Ankara there are 448 schools and 250 thousands students in 2018 in total. To the population, peer victimisation scale was applied. In data collection process, a survey was carried out on the population which is conducted by scanning the existing literature in the line with the research topic and includes 16 questions regarding the demographic specialities of the students. In the second part, peer victimisation scale is used with 5 sub-dimensions and 41 articles which include verbal and physical exclusion, rumour spreading and inflicting damage to property. Explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the validity and reliability of the research. In order to analyse whether the variables of measurement are distributed normally or not, Kolmogrov-Smirnow normality test was applied. For normally distributed data, independent sample test and ANOVA; for non-normally distributed data Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were exerted. According to results of the research, there is a significant difference between genders in terms of physical victimisation. Male students are more victims of physical bullying than females and are in physical bullying behaviours. There is a strong relationship between the class grades of students and bullying behaviours. In general, bullying behaviours are more likely than bullying victimisations. In addition to this, bullying behaviour creates much more bullying behaviours.
