Evaluation of character education and its application at middle schools according to the ideas of teachers

The aim of this study is expressing the teachers' opinions about the character education who are working at secondary schools. This research is carried out with the 42 teachers who are working at 10 different schools in Çaycuma, Zonguldak. The teachers' opinions who are teaching at Social Studies, Turkish, Religion and Moral Studies, Science, Maths, Physical Education and Art areas at secondry schools this research. In this study qualitative input techniques are used and inputs are found by the formul a that is created by the researcher. According to the research; character education is very important and essential at schools, character education must be given in all the lessons, character education affets the academic success in a positive way and character education can prevent the dicipline problems at schools. Additionally the most important factor in character education is family and social environment, friends, school, teachers and social media follow the family factor and teachers are very important role models while giving character education. The lessons that affect the character education positively are Social sciences, Religion and Moral Studies, Turkısh, Physical Education, Music and Art and schools are lock of giving the Dynamics of character education, education programmes'contents are also lack of giving character education the values that must be given firstly in character education are; respection, sincerity, charity, responsibility, love and having moral values, just ice and to leration and teachers don't have enough information and facilitie s about character education and they want to take effective and practical education a bout t his subject and the suggestions that prevent all these stuations are carried out at thiss tudy.
