Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the photonic and optical properties of Arava, Cales, Muscoflex, Dolorex, and Terapix gel, which are widely used in orthopedics and traumatology, were comprehensively investigated through experimental methods. Using UV light sources with wavelengths of 254, 365, and 400 nm, the effects of UV irradiation on the photonic properties of the drugs were examined in detail. Analysis of the absorbance and transmittance spectra revealed that each drug exhibits its own characteristic absorption bands. UV irradiation experiments demonstrated that, particularly for the Arava drug, the optical band gap increases systematically as the UV wavelength decreases, which is associated with the suppression of electronic polarization. The refractive index distributions and dispersion behaviors were analyzed using various empirical models; the obtained results revealed that the inverse relationship between the optical band gap and refractive index is valid for all investigated drugs. The single-oscillator energy, dispersion energy, and optical oscillator strength parameters calculated using the single-oscillator model quantitatively explained the fundamental differences in the light–matter interaction strength of the drugs. As a result, this study demonstrates that the investigated drugs can be considered not only as pharmaceutical agents but also as biophotonically active materials, organic semiconductor candidates, and optically dielectric biomaterials.
