A research which is focused over new design and product development of orthopedically handicapped working women clothing

Clothing has created a phenomenon to be a second skin which covers the body with the influence of protection caused by climatically conditions, covering necessity, environmental factors, dynamics forming the societies (religion, race, language, traditions etc, personal structures in the process of being individual, likes, changes in life and thinking styles. The difference between the clothing of handicapped individuals and standard clothing are in aesthetical and functional values.Handicapped people who has great importance for their physical disabilities require the clothing design with respect to their disabilities. Clothing factor is an important factor in daily life activities of orthopedically handicapped individuals.In this research, it is aimed to determine functional and aesthetical problems which handicapped working women faces and creation of new product design is aimed. Results obtained from survey application which is performed for determination of functional and aesthetical problems of orthopedically handicapped women was used for quantitative research survey. In qualitative part of this research, results which are obtained from a group which is formed by people coming from different disciplines and results which are obtained by applying creative method synectic were evaluated as data for creation of new product designs.In first section of research; problem definition, importance and objective, reasons to be valuable for research, design and production of clothing which are preferred by handicapped people suitable with their handicaps were investigated and explained.In second section conceptual framework regarded with subject is determined, theoretically explanations were formed, and studies having research aspect were explained with outlines.In second section, qualitative and quantitative methods of research, data collection techniques, and information related with data analysis are presented.In fourth section of research; survey results regarded with functional and aesthetical problem determination of orthopedically handicapped working women?s clothing which are preferred in working environment and interviews which are obtained group with creative action method-synectic group study were evaluated, and all information were statistically analyzed and presented as tables.In conclusion and results section; functional and aesthetical values which are necessary for clothing of people having physical disability were mentioned, and new clothing design methods for ready to wear clothing sector are recommended.İngilizce Anahtar Kelimeler:1-Orthopedically Handicapped2-Working Women Clothing3-Clothing Design4-Product Development5-Synectics
