Comparing osman şevki's ''Yeni Usul Talim-i Kıraat (İkinci kısım)'' and ''2018-2019 Turkish textbooks'' in terms of theme

In this study, the second part of the work called Yeni Usul Talim-i Kıraat written by Osman Şevki who worked as a teacher in a private school called Selanik Terakki Mektebi has been mentioned. It has been tried to indicate the importance of this work in the teaching of Turkish and with this purpose the work was translated from the Ottoman Language into Latin Alphabet. This study has consisted of the comparison of Yeni Usul Talim-i Kıraat (İkinci Kısım) and the texts taking place in Turkish textbook for the fifth grades which was prepared in order to be taught in 2018-2019 education year by examining in terms of the themes taking place in Turkish curriculum. The method of document review has been used and content analysis has been done because this is a qualitative work. The texts constituing textbooks has presented a diversity in terms of their themes. This diversity also shows itself in the subjects used in the texts. Key Words: Reading Book, Osman Şevki, Theme, Turkish curriculum, New Method.
