Osmaniye city, Toprakkale and Düziçi regions has a quite rich cultural saving. They hashosted many civilizations and has become the center of interest.Tribes of Varsak, Tecirli and Avşar, settled on Düziçi region, have abandoned carpet andkilim weaving earlier, for they got used to the easiness of residence. As a result of thisinteraction, the weavings produced in the region show generous features of pattern andcomposition.Loom reeded, ?kirkitli?, weaving of Osmaniye city, Toprakkale and Düziçi regionsundertaken as a subject of thesis seeing the area hasn?t been studied.The study made in Osmaniye city, Düziçi district, shows that, in the past they got painterscame to the village dye the yarn of woven products, or synthetic dye was used.Woollen yarn is used for adornments. While cotton yarn is preferred as warp, weft iswoven of woollen yarn. Products were woven on vertical looms called ?Istar?. Sack, kilimand preyer rugs are mostly made products.Patterns belong to the region lose thier symbolic meanings in time. In past, weavings likekilim, sack, prayer rug supposed to be in a young girl?s trousseau by all means, are now, tendto be forgotten.It is not only for government but also a duty for all non?governmental organizations,universities and volunteers enjoy art to cherish and carry on Turkey?s vanishing historical andcultural values.
