A Statesman from Ottoman to Republic: Haydar (Vaner) Bey Key Words: Haydar (Vaner) Bey, The Iran-Iraq Front during the First World War, Kurds, Nestorians, Armenians, the Mosul Question, Van in the time of National War, The Konia Revolt. This research entitled "A Statesman from Ottoman to Republic: Haydar (Vaner) Bey" examines the life of Haydar (Vaner) Bey who had significant missions during the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the new Turkish Republic. His activities in Balkans, during the Balkan Wars, the Albanian Question before the Second Constitutional Monarchy, the Maraş-Zeitun Uprising and the Mosul Question in the time of the First World War, Diyarbakir and Bitlis after the war. Haydar Bey's efforts to prevent the great powers', especially English's activities in Van, and their attempts to establish an independent Kurdistan, Armenia and Nestorian Country; Haydar Bey's participation to the activities of "Heyet-i Temsiliye" in Sivas, to the last Ottoman Assembly of Deputies; his the endeavors of suppressing of the Konia revolt; his studies in the First Turkish Great National Assembly (TBMM); his chairmanship of Inner Committee (Dahiliye Encümeni Reisliği); his Rewanduz Operation against Nestorians and Kurds in 1922 are main turning points of this study. As Haydar Bey's life and activities are examined in the light of archival documents, written proceedings of TBMM, newspapers, the books and articles belong to native- foreign writers; it is aimed to come into light the events occurred during the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Republican of Turkey.
