Foreign policy according to the media organs of the Ottoman Democratic Party: Türkiye and Muahede newspapers (June 1910-December 1910)

The declaration of the Second Constitutional Era in the Ottoman State was one of the important turning points regarding the Turkish political life. A multi-party and pluralist political system became widespread in the state. Alongside this, the Party of Union and Progress as well as opposition parties and their publications, newspapers and magazines, also tried to maintain their publishing life. The Ottoman Democratic Party was among them and on the newspapers published by them, such as Türkiye and Muahede, prominent writers such as Şirvanizade Mahmut Tahir and Pertev Tevfik discussed the issues of Crete, Macedonia, borrowing, Iran, which concern the state directly or indirectly in 1910, as well as other developments in the World. In particular, Şirvanizade Mahmut Tahir, who suggested a strong foreign policy, occasionally included in his publications the deficiencies of the Hakkı Pasha government and brought political criticism and suggestions regarding foreign developments followed. In economic life, independence and productivity were among the principles of democrats, and they also objected the economic upsetting elements such as capitulation. In this study, Ottoman State's foreign policy and external political developments were written through the eyes of newspapers Türkiye and Muahede, which were the media organs of the Ottoman Democratic Party, published in 1910.
