Education system at the Ottoman State Enderun School and the effects on the Turkish education system

In this thesis work, the education system at the Ottoman State Enderun School is examined and the effects of this system on the Turkish education system along with separately discussed the institutions which are thought affected by this system are examined. According to the system approach; firstly, the Ottoman State structural organization of Enderun and the place of Enderun at the structural organization of education are examined. The education of Enderun students is an education intended for employment, therefore its place at the Ottoman State structural organization is particularly discussed. After considering the whole aspects of the education system at Enderun, the educational institutions at the period of Republic affected by Enderun are studied separately and the effects of Enderun are investigated. While dealing with the educational institutions at the period of Republic, only the institiuons which are thought affected by Enderun and the effects of Enderun to these institutions are examined based on the structural organization of the Ministry of National Education. It is considered that the institutional culture at the educational institutions emerged by practices and experiences and the effects of positive experiences are still alive inspite of having completed the historical mission, most of the experiences corporated at these instituitions; inspiration, modeling, research and development, retrying, or moral distinctions are thought to be in continuation. This hypothesis is tested by the selected institutions from Republic period educational institutions. Methods in lights of documents on the testing process; making comparison, building relationship, collecting, and examining the studies previously done on this topic, benefiting from the experience (modeling) and studying the attempts were used. Preferring the most appropriate method or methods for each relation is paid attention.
