Modernization of Ottoman diplomacy in Tanzimat Era

In this dissertation, titled ?Ottoman Diplomacy in Tanzimat Era?, firstly conceptual and historical development of modernization and Ottoman modernization were considered and discussed generally. Later, the term of diplomacy and historical process of diplomacy are examined in details, with the development of diplomacy in Europe. The transition process from Ad hoc diplomacy to permanent diplomacy is evaluated in this perspective.Furthermore, foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire during its rise, growth, stagnation and dissolution periods, and methods of conducting this policy were examined in this thesis. The institutional structures, changes in diplomacy methods in Tanzimat era and situations which have prominent effects on the Ottoman foreign policy were discussed.
