History of Sivas and its around before Ottomans

Sivas city and its around had been an outstanding area throughout history, since the Neolithic age till the Ottomans captured it. While Sivas was under the prevalence of Persians during the prehistoric period (B.C. V. century), it was of one of the taxiways of the famous King Road. This territory was on the vital military way of Byzantine Empire in Anatolia during that period. As soon as the Byzantines had lost an important part of east Anatolia by the influx of Seljukian armies, this territory became the most important border city of the empire. During the period of Danişmendliler, Sivas was the most significant governmental center of the principality. That city grew and became an international trade and culture center during the Turkish Seljukians and especially I. Alaeddin Keykubat (1220-1237) period. Sivas had a special status during the period of İlhanlılar and it was selected as the center of principality during the periods of Eratna and Kadı Burhaneddin.
