Ottoman last period reformist religion scholar Tahir al-Jazairi and his thoughts of faith

When we look at Ottoman Syria in the 19th century, it is seen that various reforms were made due to the decline in the west. One of the Syrian scholars, Tahir al-Jazâiri, came to the forefront with his reformist thoughts in this period. The basic philosophy of Jazairi's understanding of reform is to return to the understanding of creed of Salaf scholars, which he frequently mentioned in his works. Al-Jazairi prefers the method of conveying the creed to the reader in a plain language, away from discussions and disagreements. Jazâirî's creed method consists of belief issues focused on knowledge and teaching. Although he respects the imams of the sect, he does not express which creed he represents in most of his works. The person who influenced him the most was Imam Gazzali. Al-Jazairî says that he prefers Gazzali's sect in terms of creed, but does not mention the name of Ash'arism, which is his sect in creed. In our thesis; We wanted to determine what the creed views of Cezâirî's "al-Cevâhirü'l-Kelâmiyye" and "el-Cevheretu fi Kavâ'idi'l-Akaid" are and to reveal which understanding is closer when we compare them with the Kalam sects. For this purpose, we tried to determine from which perspective Al-Jazairi dealt with theological issues and which of the Kalam sects he was close to.
