Abstract (EN)
This study examines usuls of the Ottoman/Turkish music through 19th century Byzantine music sources. A comparative study for definitions/descriptions of usuls has been conducted via sources of the given century. As researches conducted on the Ottoman/Turkish music usuls have shown, rhythmical patterns have been subjected to change. Aforementioned journey of usuls has been examined over theoretical explanations and musical pieces of Karamanlidika sources. This study gives essential clues about transition and transitivity of usuls by investigating the time notion of Byzantine music and notation. Theoretical investigation has been supported by scores that have been taken and transnotated from Byzantine music compilation, namely Pandora, into Western staff notation provided in the addendum.
