Abstract (EN)
Tourism is labour-intensive sector, the human factor constitutes the most significant part of it. Hotel administrations, which form an important part of tourism sector, can compete and succeed to the extent that they consider human needs and satisfaction. This study examines the in-service training activities, which play an important role in personnel training. In-service training is a kind of education that affects the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the employees with respect to their duties in work-place. This sort of training is also significant for the hotel staff for their improvement in the business. This study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, some general information about the hotels and their qualities has been given. In the second chapter, training and in-service training concepts have been defined and explained. In the third part, in-service training activities in some Istanbul hotels have been examined. The data have been obtained by means of the questionnaires. As a conclusion, in-service training should be carefully planned and applied by the hotel administrations for the improvement of their staff.
