Abstract (EN)
This study aims to reveal the impact of mobbing activities on the efficiency of tourism workers and evaluate the results found through the study?s research process in view of human resource management. Mobbing is a form of interpersonal aggression that can be both flagrant and subtle, but is mainly characterized by its persistency. A questionnaire was prepared within the research and exercised with 510 people working in accommodation establishments that have ?tourism establishment certificate?, which is issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in the center district of Antalya by the author. After the evaluation of data, it was found that 39% of the personnel were mobbed by their superiors, 35% of the personnel were mobbed by their colleagues; and, overall 48% of the personnel were mobbed according to LIPT criteria for the last six months. Besides, Wilcoxon test was performed to see whether there was a statistically significant difference between the personnel?s exposure to mobbing by their superiors or colleagues; and, the result shows that the personnel were mostly mobbed by their superiors, and then their colleagues. Kruskal-Wallis H test and Mann Whitney U test were applied in order to see if there was a statistically significant difference between participants? different demographic characteristics and their exposure to mobbing. Except gender, in eight out of nine demographic qualifications, statistically significant differences were observed. In order to see the impact of mobbing activities on the efficiency of the personnel, participants were divided into two different groups: ?being mobbed? and ?not being mobbed?. Thereafter, the ?yes-no? answers of these two groups for the questions about their efficiency were compared by using Pearson?s chi-square test. Finally, there have been some remarks about the impact of mobbing activities on the efficiency of personnel in view of human resources management by using the study?s findings; and also, some suggestions for clearing away mobbing at work or minimizing its destructive effects at least.
