Abstract (EN)

This research aims at assessing the control locus and stress coping methods as applied by the department managers in the 4 and 5 star hotel enterprises in Ankara.The sample group to be examined in this research consists of 126 department managers of 4 and 5 star hotels in Ankara. The means for data gathering include the questionnaire about individual characteristics, a stress coping methods scale and a control locus measurement. The frequency and percentage of data obtained from the questionnaire are shown in data tabulation. Contrasts in the individual characteristics of the managers and their understanding of stress coping methods were analyzed by the t-test, Tukey test and a variance analysis with a significance level of 0,05.According to the results of the research;1.Most of the samples in order to cope with stress make use of the active stress coping method and have an internal control locus.2.Apart from the managers? gender and income a significant dissimilarity was determined between their stress coping behaviors and their other individual features.3.The results ascertained a significant dissimilarity between the stress coping approaches and styles that changed according to an internal or external control locus.The conclusion chapter includes suggestions in concordance with the findings and results obtained from the research.Key Words: Coping with the stress, locus of control
