Views of parents have children with autism spectrum disorders about the life circle after the parent training program they attended

The purpose of the study is to determine the views of the parents participating in the parent training programs regarding the their children, interaction between couples and their social interaction and parent training program they attended. Participants of the study consist of six mothers and two fathers with a child with Autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The data of this research conducted with phenomenological design were collected by semi-structured interviews from qualitative data collection methods. The data were analyzed by content analysis technique. As a result of data analysis, eight themes were obtained. The obtained themes were the findings of this research. According to the findings, parents said that they are often faced with behavior problems with their children. It seems that the parents have different ways of coping with the behavior problems they used before participating in the parent training programs after the parent training program they attended. They expressed that they can not communicate with their ASD children, but they are able to communicate by providing opportunities for their children after the parent training program they attended. The findings show that the children of the families meet various difficulties in their participation in social life in their interaction with their spouse due to the fact that their children have ASD. After the parent trainig program they had been attended, it was found that the spouses were more understanding about each other, overcoming many stresses and starting to socialize. Parents state that their general views on the parent training program they are attending are positive and highly beneficial, but that parent training programs need to be planned for longer periods.
