Comparison Of Different Breast Reconstruction Techniques With Implant And Autologous Tissue Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer following skin cancers in women worldwide. It is estimated that an average of 12% of women with a life span of 70 years will suffer from breast cancer. The devastating effect of partial or complete removal of the breast tissue in a mastectomy patient can be reduced with the options of breast reconstruction. On the other hand, the evolution of reconstruction techniques in years and laborization of different reconstruction methods with diverse indications has set a drawback in the standardization issue. The studies for this issue are stil limited. Considering the reproducible and dependable options to come up with the most appropriate treatment model for the patient gives the surgeon a better perspective of the situation and allows him to make good judgements. In this study, the two most commonly used methods in our clinic for breast reconstruction; two-staged implant and autologous tissue techniques are retrospectively compared on 60 patients who are operated between the years of 2000-2013. In this comparison; the age of the patients, smoking, postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy histories, the type of the mastectomy, operation length, number and timing, hospitalization and laborization times, complications and patient satisfaction are used and the question of determination of a patient-based algorithm is addressed.
