Abstract (EN)
Cars are driven by the combustion of the fuel, and the conversion of this heat energy intomotion by mechanical systems. Control or reducing of this speed requires conversion backinto heat energy, and this is carried out by modern brake systems. As a result of the increasein the importance that is given to vehicle safety, efforts in developing more effective brakesystems have been intensified. Brakes are categorized of design, brakes power transmissionsystem and function. As well as drum brakes, which were commonly used in the past, discbrake applications have also become widespread today, usually disc brakes are used in thefront wheels, and drum brakes in the rear wheels. Development of technology and the highperformance that is expected from the cars have generalized the use of disc brakes. Discbrakes conduct heat better compared to drum brakes and discharge water better. Brake fluid isstored reservoir tank. When the brake is depressed, conducted force activates the brakebooster cylinder. Vacuum created by the booster gets bigger with this force and causes themovement of the brake master cylinder and the fluid inside the brake cylinder is transmitted tothe front and rear wheels through the holes that are opened. The fluid that comes to frontwheel cylinders goes in through the brake caliper, pushes the piston and creates braking effectby ensuring the friction of the brake pad and the wheel. In the rear wheels, the pressure thatbuilds up by the fluid that comes to the drums builds up on the wheel cylinders. After thepressure that has built up, hydraulic cylinder pushes the pistons inside and separates the shoes,and creates braking force by rubbing the pads against the drum.The development of technology and increase in vehicle speeds led to the necessity ofimproving the brake systems. Therefore, the ABS (Antilock Brake System), which is nowstandard in many cars, has been developed. ABS balances the prevents the car of skiddingduring braking and enables safe stopping.In this study, brake systems parts design, materials speciality, how to brake systems designand development of technology, inspected details.
