2. ABSTRACTTHE EFFECTS OF OVULATION INDUCTION AGENTS ON RATOVARIAN SURFACE EPITHELIUMOBJECTIVE: The study is performed to investigate the effects ofovulation induction agents experimentaly on ovarian surface epithelium in ratsMATERIAL AND METHODS: Seventy female, 90-days-old ratswere enrolled for this trial. They were randomly divided into seven groups.Five groups of rats received clomiphene citrate, HMG, rFSH, letrazole andhCG respectively twelve cycles for ovulation induction. Remaining twogroups accepted as control groups without ovulation induction. After sixcycles of ovulation induction administration right ovaries of rats wereexcluded for histopathological examination and then the remaining ovariesexcluded for histopathological examination after twelve cycles of ovulationinduction. Ovarian surface epithelium examined under light microscopy. OneWay Anova test and Tukey HSD test performed for comparisons of all groups.RESULTS: No malignant pathology determined in all groups byhistopathologic examination however, epithelial dysplasia scores weresignificantly increased in the groups inducted with clomiphen citrate, rFSH,HMG and letrazole when compared with control groups (p<0.05). In thegroup received only hCG no significantly epithelial dysplastic changesdetermined.CONCLUSION: According our findings, ovulation induction agents(except hCG) make dysplasic changes on ovary surface epithelium. Thesedysplasic changes are accepted as premalignant lesion. Finally ovulationinduction must be performed by specialists about ovulation induction and,3
