Abstract (EN)

Treatment of ovulatory infertile patients with clomiphene citrate and effect of intrauterine insemination success. Bülent Ecevit Univesity Faculty Of Medicine, Thesis in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Zonguldak, 2014 AIM: In this study, our aim was to investigate comparison of results between patients who were administered clomiphene citrate to induce ovulation in undergoing scheduled intercourse and intrauterine insemination (IUI) prospectively in Bulent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine Infertility Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department between March 2012 and March 2014. METHODS: 100 patients with a total of 265 cycles whose ovulation were induced by clomiphene citrate with timed intercourse or IUI were prospectively screened. The study and control group patients were treated with 50mg/day initial dose of clomiphene citrate at the 3th menstrual day and repeated to use 5 days. All patients were recalled after 13 day and performed folikülometry with transvaginal ultrasound. When the follicule size reached sufficient size (18-20 mm), HCG was given to the patients. In the study group, intrauterine insemination was performed 36 hours after administration of HCG.The control group patients was recommended to make frequent sexual intercourse during a week after the HCG. RESULTS: 100 patients who underwent 265 inductions resulted in 28 clinical pregnancies. In the study group, the pregnancy rate per patient was 44% and the pregnancy rate per cycle was determined to be 18.03%. In the control group, pregnancy rate per patient was 12% and the pregnancy rate per cycle was determined to be 4.19%. The comparison between clinical pregnancy rates of the control and the study group have shown a statistically significant difference. The test results that were taken on the menstruation's third day FSH, LH, E2, prolactin, TSH and the patients' age did not have any significant difference in both the study and the control group. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, using clomiphene citrate in patients undergoing ovulation induction, timed intercourse and IUI pregnancy outcomes scheduled for the relationship of the results were found statistically significant.
