Investigation of the effect of the story-based education supported 5E model on the academic success of students in the 6th grade electric transmission unit

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of teaching the 6th grade 'Conduction of Electricity' unit with the story-based approach supported 5E model on learning, permanence of learning, academic achievement and attitude of students. The research problem of the study: "6. Does the 5E learning model supported by the constructivist story-based approach have an effect on the academic achievement of the students and their attitude towards the lesson in the 'Transmission of Electricity' unit of the 5th grade science and technology lesson? is in the form. The quasi-experimental research design of the quantitative approach was used in the research. The sample of the study consists of a total of 50 students studying in the 6th grade of two primary schools in Erenler district of Sakarya province in the 2022-2023 academic year. "Science Class 6th Grade 7th Unit Research Test" and "Attitude towards Science Scale" were used as data collection tools. In the research, there are experimental and control groups that have pre-test and post-test. While the lesson plans in accordance with the narrative supported 5E model were applied to the experimental group for 3 weeks; Lesson plans suitable for the current curriculum were applied to the control group. In order to determine the effect of the narrative supported 5E model on the academic success of the students in the science course, pre-test and post-test were applied to both groups. In addition, an attitude scale was applied to the 6th grade students in order to determine their attitudes towards the science lesson. According to the data obtained, the academic achievement and attitudes of the students in the experimental group differed significantly compared to the students in the control group.
