Determination of some growth and reproduction characteristics of chub (Squalius anatolicus Bogutskaya, 1997) in the Oymapinar Dam Lake (Antalya)

This study aims at researching age composition, growth parameters, spawning period, sex ratio, length and age at first sexual maturity, and fecundity of chubs (S. anatolicus) which were sampled from Oymapınar Dam Lake between the dates March, 2016 – February, 2017. Ages of 422 chubs sampled from the dam lake range from II to VIII and 47,39 % of the sampled population are female and 52,61 % of them are male. It has been determined that, in females, fork lengths varied between 20,0 cm and 55,1 cm and weights varied between 93,37 g and 2307,88 g. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters for all individuals were determinated as L∞= 60,57 cm, W∞= 3260,79 g, k= 0,160, t0= -0,877 ve b= 3,195. Maximum age was VIII for females and VII for males. Average condition factor (KF) for overall population was calculated as 1,278± 0,006. Length at first sexual maturity for female and male individuals of chubs were determined as 26,0 cm and 23,0 cm, respectively. It was found that first sexual maturity age for female individuals was III and for male individuals was II. Monthly gonadosomatic index values indicated that intense spawning period takes place between March and June. Fecundity (F)-length relationship was specified as, LogF=-0,44697+3,33868*LogL R² =0,7168. It was found that average egg diameter was 0,93 mm and average egg yield was 78408 items per individual.
