National security dimension and regional power effects in Türkiye's nuclear energy policies in the context of Game Theory: Israel and Iran analysis

It seems that the theories and strategies put forward with classical approaches in the context of international relations, national security and foreign policy are insufficient because they are not data-based. Therefore, global and regional policies of states; it necessitates a system based on different parameters such as economy, politics, military power, social structure, as well as energy, food and health. The gradual decrease in natural resources, the search for alternative resources due to the deterioration in the supply-demand balance due to the increase in the world population, and the critical importance of existing resource use in terms of the ecosystem and international security have brought energy to the forefront in the security policies of countries. Nuclear energy technology, discovered with the aim of closing the gap in supply, is used by states as a deterrent defense mechanism, as it provides the ability to produce weapons with high destructive power, as well as being a clean and efficient source. Türkiye, which started its first studies in the field of nuclear energy in 1968, joined this race with the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. With this initiative, Türkiye will take an important initial step towards reducing its foreign dependency in the field of energy. However, considering the potential of nuclear technology to be used in the field of security, it is expected to increase the power competition between the countries in the region. Türkiye's possession of such technology has added a new dimension to its relations, especially with Israel and Iran, with the influence of the conflicts in their common past. This new equation brings with it the risk of Türkiye being exposed to some political, economic, security-oriented pressure, embargo and deterrent policies. It is not enough to explain these risks with pure security approaches without supporting quantitative data. For this reason, the study aims to present a research that evaluates the reflections of Türkiye's nuclear energy policies on its relations with Israel and Iran in the context of game theory, one of the quantitative methods, as well as theoretical outputs within the scope of qualitative methods on the subject, and examines security-oriented approaches within this framework.
