Multi-disciplinary approach in design of special purpose marine vehicles and the place of interior design

In this study, first of all, the concept and history of maritime has been mentioned, and the development processes of marine vehicles have been examined. The disciplines involved in the design of special purpose marine vehicles that emerged during this development process and their relations with each other were revealed, the design processes were explained, and the design criteria of interior spaces in marine vehicles were specified. In the first chapter; In addition to the maritime concept and history, along with the development processes of marine vehicles, classification has been made according to their purposes and the characteristics of these classes are explained. Also, the effects of being on the water and being in motion on the users and interiors were examined. In the second chapter; Special purpose marine vehicles formed in the classification of marine vehicles are explained in more detail and their sub-classifications have been made. Structural differences of special purpose marine vehicles and their positive and negative aspects against each other are mentioned. The reason for the focus on special purpose marine vehicles, which is the subject of this study, is that the concept of interior design is first observed in such vehicles. Also, for the first time in such vehicles, interior spaces are shaped with aesthetic perception in line with the user's wishes and demands. In the third chapter; Disciplines that are effective in the design of the marine vehicles are explained. The processes in which these disciplines are effective in the design of a marine vehicle and their relationship with each other have been examined. In the fourth chapter; the design process of a marine vehicle are explained in detail. Interior design criteria have been put forward in the design of special purpose marine vehicles. Although the structural design is also mentioned, the focal point of the study is the interior spaces. The importance of the effectiveness field experts during the design phase is emphasized in the relationship between vessel, interior and the user.
