Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the effect of an obesity treatment applied in a private healthcare centre on losing weight. The study was conducted with 27 voluntary people above 18 years of age with a BMI ≥30 kg/m² who applied to the "Obesity Treatment" at the ROMMER Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre between 25.11.2013 and 25.02.2014. A questionnaire form was applied to determine general qualities, diseases, general eating habits and physical activity levels of patients. Body compositions of individual were measured regularly every week by TANİTA BC 418 MA device while their waists and hips were measure by measuring tape. A comparison was made for the women participating in the study between the first and repeating measurements of their weight (kg), fat percentage, fat weight, FFM (fat free mass) and body water percentage, bone mineral density percentage, basal metabolism rate, waist circumference (cm), hip circumference (cm) and their disease groups, age variance, menopause cases, smoking groups, snack groups and meal skipping. A positive linear relation was found between HOMA-IR and first measurements of variances like weight (kg) (r= 0,446; p< 0,020< α= 0,05), body fat percentage (%) (r= 0,433; p< 0,024 < α= 0,05) and fat amount (kg) (r= 0,433; p< 0,024 < α = 0,05) (When HOMA-IR value increases, the values of weight (kg), body fat percentage (%) and fat amount(kg) also increase or when there is a decrease in HOMA-IR value, the measurements of the relevant variances also decrease). As a result of the analysis, there is a statistical difference percentage change values calculated according to the first measurement of the weight variance and 1st measurement value of repeating measurements among the snack groups. While there is a decrease of 1% compared to the initial measurement in the group (n=9) with one snack for yd1, there as a decrease of 0,4% in the group with multiple snacks. A statistically significant difference was found between the two groups (p=0,004). Throughout the study, average weight loss of the women participating in the research was found to be 2,9704 kilogram, the difference in their body fat percentages was found to be 0,7% and the body fat amount difference was found to be 1,89 kilogram all being statistically significant. Key words:Obesity, obesity treatment, BKI
