Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between health fatalism and psychological resilience in families with children with special needs. Method: The study was designed as descriptive and correlational. The population of the research consisted of the parents of children with special needs in the Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers in the central districts of the Directorate of National Education in Erzurum. A priori power analysis was used to determine the sample size of the study. A priori power analysis was used to determine the sample size of the study and 283 parents were included in the study. The study started after obtaining the necessary ethics committee and institutional permissions. "Personal Information Form", 'Health Fatalism Scale' and 'Brief Psychological Resilience Scale' were applied to the parents. Data was collected face-to-face. Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation and linear regression analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: The mean score of the Health Fatalism Scale was 58.43 (min-max: 17-85) and the mean score of the Brief Psychological Resilience Scale was 18.34 (min-max: 6-30). As a result of Pearson correlation analysis between Health Fatalism Scale and Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, the correlation value was found as r=0,049. In addition, in order to understand the predictive power of the Health Fatalism Scale scores for the families of children with special needs on the Short Psychological Resilience Scale, Linear Regression analysis was applied, and the regression values were determined as R=0,049, R2=0,002. Conclusion: In this study, the fatalism scores of the families of children with special needs were found to be above the medium level and psychological resilience scores were found to be at the medium level. No relationship was found between fatalism in health and psychological resilience. It is recommended that the families of children with special needs should be trained by public health nurses to meet the spiritual needs related to fatalism in health and programs should be organized to increase the level of psychological resilience.
