Comparison of school-related fear and perception of success of children with and without special learning disabilities

The aim of the research was to compare the school-related fears and success perceptions of children with specific learning disabilities and normal development. The study group of the research consists of 63 children with specific learning disabilities and 93 children with normal development, studying in the 3rd and 4th grades. Research data were collected with "Personal Information Form", "Fear Scale in Primary School" and "Perception of Success Scale". As a result of the research, while there was no significant difference between the fear levels of children with and without specific learning disabilities, it was found that there was a significant difference in the emotional sub-dimension of their perception of success (p<.05). The scores of children with special learning disabilities obtained from the Achievement Perception Scale show a significant difference according to their liking to go to school, liking to study and having close friends at school, while the grade level of children without special learning disabilities shows a significant difference according to their perception of school, liking to go to school and liking to study (p<.05). While the scores of children with specific learning difficulties from the Fear Scale in Primary School differ significantly according to gender, grade level and liking to go to school, children without specific learning difficulties differ significantly only according to father's age (p<.05). It was determined that there was a low level of positive significant relationship between the fear and success levels of children with and without specific learning disabilities.
