Analysis of perceived leadership skills of public and private elemantary school manager

In this research, the perception of elementary school teachers about their managers`management skills and leadership capabilities is analyzed.The research is done by surveys filled in by 318 teachers in 21 elementary schools, 13public and 8 private, located in Uskudar, Pendik, Kadikoy, Kartal, Fatih and Umraniye.Datas collected with the help of success and attitude tests analyzed by frequency (f) ,percentage (%) , arithmethic medium ( , standart devition (ss) , t test , ANOVA ,Kruskal Wallis-H test , Mann Whitney-U test .The research has shown that private elementary school managers are able to practice theirmanagement and leadership skills much more efficiently with respect to public elementaryschool managers due to physical location of the schools, economic situation andmanagement authority boundaries. Both public and private elementary school managersare not giving enough emphasis on developing their teaching and management skills. Thecharacteristics of the school managers have more influence on the research outcomes thanthe characteristics of the teachers.Key words: Manager, Leader, Educator, Private Elementary School, Public ElementarySchool
