Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the adhesion strength of surface coating materials applied to special production fiberboard modified with inorganic fillers. For this purpose, firstly medium-density fiberboard (MDF) panels were produced by adding inorganic filler materials including 70% broadleaf wood, and 30% coniferous wood fibers, three ratios (3%, 6%, 9%) of rock salt (NaCl), calcite (CaCO3), borax pentahydrate (Na2B4075H2O), and talc (3MgO4SiO2H2O). Later, the oriental beech (Fagus orientalis L.), acrylic, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and laminate surface coating materials were glued to the the surfaces of the panels using urea formaldehyde (UF), polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), and polyurethane (PU) adhesives. The samples were then subjected to coating adhesion strength testing in accordance with the principles specified in the TS EN 311 standard. In addition, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to determine the form occurring at the surface coating material-fiberboard interface. According to the research results, the inorganic fillers used in different ratios in the fiberboard modification reduced the coating adhesion strength. In the study, the highest adhesion strength was obtained by applying UF glue on the control samples with the oriental beech (Fagus orientalis L.), and the laminate coating, and it was determined that the use of UF and PVAc adhesives were not suitable for bonding PVC coatings.
