Abstract (EN)
Esophageal cancers are highly agressive and have poor prognosis. It is one of the most important causes of death related to malignancies. The primary treatment for esophageal cancers is surgery and the factors affecting recurrence and survival after surgery determine the need for additional treatment. In this study, between the years 2008-2018, the pathological results of 50 cases who diagnosed esophageal cancer and underwent esophagectomy in our clinic were evaluated and prognostic factors were determined. In order to investigate the prognostic factors affecting survival in these patients; gender, age, tumor size, histological and macroscopic type, tumor stage, T and N categories, total resected lymph node number and metastatic lymph node rate, degree of differentiation, vascular and perineural invasion, length of proximal surgery, adjuvant treatment and presence of postoperative complication was determined as a prognostic parameter. The results of the statistical evaluation revealed that 5-year survival rates of patients with a tumor size < 3 cm after radical surgery, macroscopic type of non-ulserative/ infiltrative ESCC pathology, stage-1, pT1-2, pN0 cases, well-differentiated groups, patients without perineural invasion, cases with metastatic lymph node ratio < 0.2, proximal surgical margin of 5-10 cm and without postoperative complication were found to be high.
