Summary examination of spiritual evaluation in palliative care from nurses, patients and patient's relatives

The research was carried out in a descriptive research type in order to examine the spiritual evaluation in terms of nurses, patients and patient relatives in palliative care. The research was carried out in Sakarya Training and Research Hospital Korucuk Campus Palliative Care Service between April 2021 and November 2021. The population of the study was 60 nurses, 60 patients and 60 patient relatives, who met the inclusion criteria of the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital Korucuk Campus Palliative Care Service, and as a result of the power analysis, were included in the study in accordance with the principle of voluntariness. The data in the study were obtained with the "Individual Descriptive Information Form", "Spiritual Well-Being Scale", "Spiritual Scale" and "Spiritual Support Perception Scale". All results were considered significant for p<0.05, and Cronbach's alpha value was used for scale reliability. Independent sample t-test was used to determine whether there was a difference between the two groups, and one-way analysis of variance (One Way ANOVA) was used to determine whether there was a difference between more than two groups. The mean SIOS score of the nurses included in the study was found to be 113.78±13.44 and their spiritual well-being was evaluated as high. The mean SIOS score applied to the patients was found to be 106.28±14.35, and their spiritual well-being was evaluated as high, the mean SIOS score of the relatives of the patient was found to be 119.15±12.49, and the spiritual well-being of the relatives of the patients was determined as high. The spiritual well-being of the nurses is higher in those who are married, have a good income, choose the department they work voluntarily, and evaluate themselves as morally good (p<0.05). It was determined that the spiritual well-being of the patients with high educational status is high, and the spirituality of those with a large family is high (p<0.05). Spiritual well-being of patients who work from relatives, live in the province, have children, and evaluate themselves as morally good is high (p<0.05). As a result; In the palliative care clinic, the spiritual well-being and spirituality level of nurses, patients and their relatives were determined to be high.
