Wall systems and gate structures of the pamphylia region

Perge, Side, Aspendos, Attaleia, Sillyon and Lyrbe Cities, which are important cities of Pamphylia Region, are located in Antalya province. In this study, The fortifications and gates built as the Pamphylia Hellenistic Period Defense System were dealt with. The city's defense systems, fortification walls and gates were examined under separate headings in terms of their plan and architectural features. In addition, archaeological data (ceramics and other small finds) were evaluated together with epigraphic finds (inscriptions) in the literature search, and the examination of the Hellenistic Period wall and gate system of Pamphylia was supported by geophysical methods. In the studies conducted, it was stated that the city walls were strengthened by the elbows that cut each other at right angles, and the walls were dated with the techniques of masonry, workmanship, city building inscriptions and archaeological finds. Pamphylia City is the end of the Hellenistic period, where the walls are of two phases. According to this, the first phase of the city walls should be dated from the last quarter of the 4th century BC to the middle of the 3rd century BC, and the second phase should be dated to the middle of the 3rd century BC - the beginning of the 2nd century BC.
