Distance education applications in the field of physical education of individuals in need of special education in the pandemic period (Covid 19) and teacher experiences with these applications

According to the report published by UNESCO in 2020, education was suspended in schools on 27 March 2020 all over the world due to the pandemic. This health crisis has forced education systems to change. This change has affected many students who need special education. The aim of the research is to determine the distance education applications in physical education of individuals who need special education during the pandemic period and the opinions of teachers about these applications. The participants of the study consisted of 5 physical education teachers (2 female, 3 male) who teach physical education in private education institutions in Ankara and give physical education lessons in online education during the pandemic process. The case study was used in the design of the research, which was carried out using the qualitative research method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis. As a result of the analysis, the following themes were reached. "Parent support" "Active participation" and "Insufficient attention and environment". In conclusion; When teachers received support from parents in the online education process, the teaching-learning process was positively affected. For the students who actively participate in the lessons, the objectives and achievements in the curriculum have been achieved. It is recommended to increase the in-service training given to teachers for questions encountered in the online education process, to provide necessary training to parents, and to revise the sections of teacher education programs for special education in physical education.
