Abstract (EN)

Epidemics affect negatively the whole world and human life every hundred years. One of the important areas negatively affected by Covid-19 epidemic is education. In this process, teachers who had to work and have the responsibility of transferring something to the students on the other hand, faced some problems in the distance education process. Although it can be said that teachers from all branches experience some difficulties, the difficulties experienced by English teachers in particular should not be ignored. In this study, the difficulties experienced by English teachers due to the transition to distance education during the Covid-19 epidemic were investigated and the problems experienced by teachers were determined as a result of these difficulties. This research was carried out using the phenomenology design, which is one of the qualitative research methods. In the study, data were obtained by interviewing 27 English teachers. Semi-structured interview technique was used to collect data. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. The interview technique was chosen during the analysis. As a result of the analyzes made, it has been determined that the biggest problems of teachers in this process are inadequacy of infrastructure and internet shortage. The participants made suggestions such as conducting face-to-face activities focusing on speaking and reading skills in distance education.
