Presentation of the problems in the distance education process in the television news during the pandemic period: ATV, FOX TV, CHANNEL D and SHOW TV example

After the social restriction decisions taken with the COVID-19 epidemic in Turkey, face-to-face education was suspended and it was decided to continue the education remotely. With the start of distance education, there were problems in accessing distance education in many regions, especially in rural areas, and inequality of opportunity in education began to emerge. In the study, the presentation of the problems experienced in the distance education process in Turkey in the main news bulletins of ATV, Fox TV, Kanal D and Show TV was examined. These four television channels are included in the study because they have the highest viewing rates according to TIAK (television viewing research joint stock company) data. Quantitative and qualitative content analysis method was used to determine the effect of ideology in the main news bulletins broadcast on television channels. In the first three parts of the study, a literature review was made, and in the fourth part, news analyzes were included. Keywords: COVID-19, Education, Television journalism, Distance Education
