Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Although COVID-19 has an asymptomatic or mild course in some patients, it has a severe course in others and has led to millions of deaths. It is thought that vaccines developed against SARS-CoV-2 play an important role in the prevention of catching the disease and reducing mortality and morbidity. In our study, we aim to evaluate the effect of vaccination status on the prognosis of the disease in patients who have had different combinations of vaccination and are hospitalized in COVID service. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted with the data of 854 COVID-19 patients The dependent variable included in the comparisons is the need for intensive care, independent variables are gender, risk score, severity score, vaccination status. RESULTS: A total of 854 patients, 397 men and 457 women, were included in the study. Intensive care was needed in 18.3% of the patients. 49.2% of the patients have never been vaccinated. Three logistic regression models were created by using different combinations of vaccines. In the first model, being vaccinated by three doses of CoronaVac or two doses of CoronaVac and one dose of Comirnaty vaccine reduced the risk of hospitalization by 82%, in the second model, being vaccinated by three doses of CoronaVac vaccine reduced the risk of hospitalization in the intensive care unit by 77%, in the last model, only getting the vaccine (minimum one dose 6 months before the disease) was found to provide a 42% reduction in the risk of admission to the intensive care unit. CONCLUSION: Evaluating the risk parameters well in the course of the disease and scoring the severity of the disease during the follow-up period of the disease have an important place in the prediction of the prognosis of the disease. It has been shown once again that vaccination is important in preventing the need for intensive care in inpatients and it is seen that this efficiency increases even more in the case of booster vaccine doses.
